Welcome to SonneMondSterne 2027 in Saalburg
SonneMondSterne (SMS) is one of Germany’s largest and most popular open-air electronic music festivals. The next edition takes place from 6 to 8 August 2027 on the shores of the Bleilochtalsperre (Saalburg Beach) in Saalburg-Ebersdorf, Thuringia. Since 1997 it has attracted around 30,000–40,000 visitors for techno, house, EDM and other electronic sounds right by the lake.

Program
The SonneMondSterne 2027 program focuses on electronic dance music: techno, house, EDM, drum & bass and related genres. Several floors (including Mainstage, Sun Stage and club tents) host DJs and live acts from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. The main program typically starts on Friday and ends around 16:00 on Sunday. In previous years there have also been warm-up and pre-opening parties from Wednesday/Thursday. The exact 2027 lineup and timetable will be announced later on the official website.
Tickets
Tickets for SonneMondSterne 2027 are available via the official shop at sonnemondsterne-shop.de. In recent years a festival ticket cost around €199 plus camping (approx. €49) and an environmental deposit (approx. €5). For 2027 prices starting from around €130 have been listed; final categories and prices may still change. Combination tickets (festival + camping), limited day tickets and special options (e.g. boat) are usually offered. The festival often sells out quickly – early booking is recommended. Minimum age is generally 16 (with conditions). Always check the official site for current prices and availability.
Visitor Tips
- By car via the A9 (exit Schleiz or Bad Lobenstein); use navigation address “Festivalwiese, Wetteraweg, 07929 Saalburg-Ebersdorf”. By train to Bad Lobenstein or Schleiz, then possible shuttle.
- August weather can be warm during the day and cooler at night – bring weatherproof clothing, sun protection and sturdy shoes.
- Campsites fill up fast; arrive early and book nearby hotels or holiday apartments in advance if needed.
- Separate waste and respect the environmental deposit – the festival prioritises keeping the lakeside clean.
