Welcome to the Sound | Escape 2027 in Kitzbuhel

Sound | Escape is Kitzbuhel Tourism’s electronic boutique festival in the Kitzbuhel Alps of Tyrol, Austria. After the third edition on 20–22 March 2026, a 2027 return is confirmed; exact festival dates had not been published at the time of writing and, based on previous years, are expected in the second half of March. Daytime sets land on alpine stages at the Kitzbueheler Horn and the Hahnenkamm. Evenings move into bars and clubs in the historic old town. Admission to festival venues is free.

The running order has stayed consistent since the 2024 premiere: Friday usually opens on the Kitzbueheler Horn, Saturday focuses on the Hahnenkamm, and Sunday winds down on the mountain and at selected town venues. In 2026 the Alpenhaus programme started around 11:00 on Friday, while town venues ran into the early hours. More than 30 DJs are typically spread across three days. House and techno lead the bill, with space for local talent. Kitzbuhel Tourism usually releases the 2027 timetable and artist list in winter on kitzbuehel.com and via @soundescape_kitzbuehel.

Lift companies adjust operating hours so guests can reach the alpine stages after the last runs. Weather-related changes are normal in the Alps; the event is planned as an all-weather festival. Town venues do not require a ski pass. Mountain stages do: you need a valid ticket from Bergbahn AG Kitzbuhel to ride up to the Horn or Hahnenkamm.

Sound | Escape itself is free. There is no festival ticket and no tiered pricing. You only pay for extras such as the mountain railway to the alpine stages and, if you use it, the Aquarena. In 2026 a pedestrian day pass on selected gondola days was quoted at around EUR 20; ski day tickets and multi-day passes generally cover mountain access. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kitzbuhel

• Getting there: Kitzbuhel station sits on the Woergl–St. Johann in Tirol line. Trains from Munich, Innsbruck or Salzburg plus a short walk or taxi work well. Drivers should use edge-of-town garages; the old-town core is largely pedestrian.
• What to wear: Late March can be sunny and mild on the Horn and freezing after sunset. Pack ski layers for the day, a windproof shell for open-air stages and solid shoes for cobbled streets.
• Where to stay: Late-season Kitzbuhel still fills up. Book hotels, guesthouses or apartments early if you want both skiing and nightlife. Aurach, Reith and St. Johann in Tirol are practical overflow bases.
• Link mountain and town: Build a buffer between last descent, last gondola and first club set. In 2026 the Hahnenkamm lift ran extended Friday hours; wait for the official 2027 lift timetable before you plan tight connections.
• It is not a fenced mega-site: Expect many small stages instead of one campsite arena. Save the partner-venue map and respect house rules in the compact historic centre (glass, noise, neighbours).
