Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Münster

The day opens with the amateur riders: from around 8:30 in the morning they set off from the Prinzipalmarkt onto the three LeezenCup routes. While the first finishers reach the Schlossplatz by late morning, the longest distance keeps riders on the road into the early afternoon. At the same time, the framework program around the professional race gets underway in the region with team presentations and rider introductions, before the professionals reach Münster in the afternoon for the sporting highlight of the day.

Tickets and Admission for the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro

Watching the race along the route and visiting the LeezenExpo at Schlossplatz are completely free for spectators. Anyone wanting to take part in one of the amateur races needs a paid entry slot, booked through the official website. For the 2026 edition most start slots are already sold out, with only a few children's races reportedly still open at last check.

Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Münster

  • Because of extensive road closures along the route, arriving by train or public transport is recommended
  • Riders taking part should pay attention to the neutralized start phase and follow the lead vehicles
  • Early October weather in the Münsterland can be changeable, so spectators should dress for variable conditions
  • Since the date falls on a public holiday, accommodation in Münster should be booked well in advance
  • Good viewing spots along the Prinzipalmarkt and at the Schlossplatz finish area tend to fill up quickly
