During Advent 2026, Sankt Goar in the UNESCO Upper Middle Rhine Valley hosts several small, local Christmas markets rather than one long city-wide fair. Confirmed dates are the Advent weekend at Weingut Philipps-Mühle on 5 and 6 December 2026 and the Biebernheim Christmas market on 13 December 2026. Further traditional markets in the town centre and in Werlau usually take place on other Advent weekends; as of early September 2026 the city had not yet published a complete 2026 schedule.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
Sankt Goar does not run a multi-week metropolitan market. Instead, Advent events are spread across the town centre and the districts of Biebernheim, Werlau and Gründelbach. Confirmed for 2026: Advent at Weingut Philipps-Mühle on 5 December (15:00–21:00) and 6 December (11:00–19:00), plus the Biebernheim clubs’ market on 13 December from 14:00 to 19:00 on Dorfplatz “An der Bach”. Entry is free; food and drinks are paid at the stalls. Other traditions (culinary market on Rathausplatz, Werlau horse-stable market, “Waiting for the Christ Child”) usually follow the Advent calendar — check stadt-st-goar.de for updates.
Tickets & Admission for St. Goar Christmas Market Sankt Goar
Admission to the Christmas markets in Sankt Goar is free. There are no tickets. You only pay for mulled wine, food, crafts and, if you wish, a Christmas tree (including at Weingut Philipps-Mühle). Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Sankt Goar
- Arrive by train along the Rhine (St. Goar station on the left-bank line); the valley is narrow and the B9 can be slow in winter.
- Wear warm, weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes: markets are outdoors and December can be wet, windy and cold.
- Book rooms in the old town, by the Rhine or in the hillside districts early — capacity in Sankt Goar is limited.
- Markets sit in different parts of town (centre, Gründelbach, Biebernheim, Werlau); allow travel time and check parking.

Advent at Weingut Philipps-Mühle 2026
On the second Advent weekend, Saturday 5 December 2026 from 15:00 to 21:00 and Sunday 6 December 2026 from 11:00 to 19:00, Weingut Philipps-Mühle (Gründelbach 49, 56329 Sankt Goar) hosts its Advent market. Expect Riesling mulled wine, wine-related gifts, Christmas trees, plus game sausage, potato pancakes and cake from neighbouring kitchens. Covered, heated seating is available. Biebernheim Christmas Market 2026
On Sunday 13 December 2026 from 14:00 to 19:00 the clubs of Biebernheim hold their Christmas market on Dorfplatz “An der Bach” (An der Bach 10, 56329 Sankt Goar-Biebernheim). Typical features include a large Christmas pyramid, a nativity scene, a children’s carousel and Christmas music by Musikverein Sankt Goar. Local clubs serve cake, waffles, bratwurst and regional specialities. The 2026 date is listed in the Biebernheim events calendar.
Werlau Christmas Market 2026 (Pferdestall Osterwiese)
The Werlau Christmas market is traditionally held on the second Advent weekend at the horse stable on Osterwiese, often with a visit from St Nicholas on Saturday evening. As of early September 2026 the exact 2026 dates had not been published on the city website. In previous years it typically opened from about 15:00/16:00 on Saturday and from 11:00 on Sunday. Culinary Advent Market on Rathausplatz 2026
The town centre traditionally hosts a culinary Advent market with Christmas-tree sales on Place de Châtillon-en-Bazois in front of the town hall, often on the first Advent weekend, with Santa Claus, communal carol singing and an Advent concert.
