Welcome to the Stralsund Christmas Market 2026 in Stralsund
The Stralsund Christmas Market takes place from 23 November to 31 December 2026 in the historic UNESCO World Heritage Old Town. As one of the oldest Christmas markets in the Baltic Sea region, it transforms Alter Markt, Neuer Markt, the Gothic town hall cellar and the Johanniskloster into a festive winter landscape. Daily from 11:00 (Sundays from 11:30) chalets, cultural programme and lights invite visitors to stroll and enjoy.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Stralsund Christmas Market spreads across four locations and offers something for every taste. On Alter Markt the culture tent provides daily free live music, readings and theatre. Neuer Markt brings action for families with the ice rink and rides. In the impressive Gothic vaulted cellar of the town hall, craftspeople present their unique pieces. On the third Advent weekend (11 to 13 December 2026) the Johanniskloster comes alive with the more than 500-year-old tradition of the Nikolai Market featuring medieval flair, dance and fire art.
Alter Markt – Contemplation and Culture
In front of the historic town hall, Alter Markt with its culture tent invites visitors to linger. Free concerts, the big Christmas singing and children’s programmes take place here daily. This location is ideal for those seeking deceleration and classic Christmas atmosphere.
Rathauskeller – Crafts and History
In one of the largest Gothic cellars in the Baltic region, over 40 artists and craftspeople exhibit their work. Fine ceramics, handmade jewellery, felt items and fragrant beeswax products make the cellar one of the most beautiful indoor markets in Germany.
Neuer Markt – Funfair and Ice Rink
Everything revolves around action and family fun here: large ice rink, carousels, bumper cars and rides. Sweet treats and colourful stalls provide good cheer until 22 December.
Johanniskloster – Historic Nikolai Market
From 11 to 13 December 2026 the Johanniskloster opens for the medieval Nikolai Market. Historic stalls, traditional crafts, theatre and fire art bring Stralsund’s roots as a Christmas city to life.
