Welcome to the Stuttgart Christmas Markets 2026 in Stuttgart
The Stuttgart Christmas Market is one of the oldest and largest Christmas markets in Europe, attracting around 3.5 million visitors every year. From 25 November to 23 December 2026 it transforms the historic city centre around Schlossplatz, Schillerplatz, Karlsplatz and Marktplatz into a magical sea of lights. With more than 250 beautifully decorated stalls, Swabian specialities and daily concerts, it offers authentic festive atmosphere in the heart of Baden-Württemberg.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The main Stuttgart Christmas Market is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00 (Friday and Saturday until 22:00). The official opening ceremony takes place on 25 November in the courtyard of the Old Palace. The Finnish Christmas Village on Karlsplatz runs from 25 November to 22 December 2026 and features Finnish delicacies and live music. Nearby, the Esslingen Medieval & Christmas Market (24 November – 22 December 2026) and the Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas Market (24 November – 22 December 2026) offer additional festive experiences. Daily concerts, a rich children’s programme and atmospheric lighting create a varied programme throughout the season.
Tickets & Admission for Stuttgart Christmas Markets
Entry to the Stuttgart Christmas Market and most neighbouring markets is free of charge. Costs only apply to food, drinks and rides. Mulled wine and specialities typically range from €3.50 to €5. Official information and the site map are available on the organiser’s website.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Stuttgart
- Best reached by public transport: S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof or Stadtmitte, U-Bahn stations Schlossplatz and Charlottenplatz are right next to the market
- Warm layered clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended – temperatures can drop well below freezing during Advent
- Book hotels and accommodation in the city centre or near the main station early, as demand is high during the peak season
- Weekday afternoons are usually more relaxed than weekends and evenings
- Combine your visit with a short trip to Esslingen (approx. 15 minutes by S-Bahn) for the medieval market
Stuttgart Christmas Market 2026
The classic main market stretches across Schlossplatz, Schillerplatz, Karlsplatz and Marktplatz. With more than 250 stalls, the world’s largest nativity pyramid and daily concerts in the Old Palace, it forms the heart of Advent in Stuttgart. Opening hours: daily 11:00–21:00, Friday and Saturday until 22:00 (25 November – 23 December 2026).
Finnish Christmas Village 2026
On Karlsplatz you can experience authentic Finnish atmosphere with fire-roasted salmon, Finnish Glögi, Nordic crafts and a traditional log cabin. The Finn Village is open from 25 November to 22 December 2026 and offers family days with stick-bread baking as well as live music.
Esslingen Medieval & Christmas Market 2026
Just 15 minutes away by S-Bahn, the historic old town of Esslingen turns into a lively medieval market from 24 November to 22 December 2026 with around 180 stalls, craftspeople in historical costumes and an extensive cultural programme. Admission is free.
Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas Market 2026
On the baroque market square and Arsenalplatz in Ludwigsburg, one of the region’s most atmospheric markets takes place from 24 November to 22 December 2026. Illuminated angels, over 150 stalls and a dedicated children’s programme create the festive mood. Entry is free and the market is easily reachable by public transport.
