Welcome to the South Tyrolean Wine Festival in Aalen 2026

On Friday, 31 July, and Saturday, 1 August 2026, the Spritzenhausplatz in the small town of Aalen (BadenWürttemberg) turns for the 45th time into an oasis of South Tyrolean hospitality and wine culture. Under shady plane trees, the local Red Cross association and the Weinmarkt Grieser wine shop jointly invite guests to enjoy fine South Tyrolean wines and culinary specialties.

Program

The festive opening takes place on Friday, 31 July, at 6:00 PM. The mayor traditionally opens the festival through a symbolic weighing ceremony; his body weight, converted into wine bottles, is donated afterward to the Bürgerspital Aalen senior center. Guests can taste wines from renowned South Tyrolean wineries alongside savory and sweet regional specialties. Live music sets the mood on Friday evening, and the festival continues into the late evening on Saturday. Both days run until around 11:30 PM.

Admission to the South Tyrolean Wine Festival is free. Wine, food and drinks are paid for directly on site.

Visitor Tips

• Arrive early in the evening, as the square under the plane trees fills up quickly in good weather.
• Aalen is easily reached by train (Aalen station), just a short walk from Spritzenhausplatz.
• Bring cash, although many stands now also accept card payments.
• A light jacket is recommended for cooler summer evenings.
• If you want to try several wines, order small tasting portions.
