What is the Summer Breeze Open Air?
The Summer Breeze Open Air is Germany's second largest independent metal festival after Wacken Open Air and ranks among the largest in Europe. Since 1997, the Dinkelsbühl airfield in the Sinbronn district (Middle Franconia, Bavaria) has turned into a four day home for the international metal scene every August, with a focus on Death Metal, Black Metal, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Metalcore and Hardcore. In 2027 the festival celebrates its thirtieth anniversary.
When does Summer Breeze 2027 take place?
Summer Breeze 2027 runs from Wednesday, 18 August, to Saturday, 21 August 2027, keeping its usual calendar week. Sunday is traditionally reserved for a relaxed journey home. For the anniversary edition, more than 63 bands are already confirmed, including Electric Callboy, Edguy, Children Of Bodom, HammerFall, Halestorm, Lord Of The Lost and Saltatio Mortis, with more names to follow before summer 2027.

Where does the festival take place?
The venue is the Dinkelsbühl Aeroclub airfield, Flugplatzstraße 1, 91550 Dinkelsbühl, specifically in the Sinbronn district (Ansbach district, Middle Franconia). Free shuttle buses run regularly between Dinkelsbühl's historic old town and the festival grounds. Visitors arriving by car need to book an arrival time slot in advance; by train, the usual route runs via Ellwangen or Crailsheim, followed by a festival shuttle.
How much do Summer Breeze 2027 tickets cost?
At the sales launch (17 August 2026), the regular festival ticket is offered as an Early Bird e ticket for 219.97 euros; this price applies through 7 September 2026, after which it rises to 269.97 euros. For the anniversary, a limited hard ticket package is also available for 229.97 euros plus shipping, which additionally includes a patch, a calendar and a sticker; this package is only available during the Early Bird phase. Regular camping is already included in the festival ticket.
How many visitors does Summer Breeze attract?
With around 40,000 to 45,000 visitors per edition, Summer Breeze counts among Europe's largest metal festivals; in 2024 it won Best Festival at the Helga! Festival Award. Beyond the music, the family like atmosphere on site and the historic charm of Dinkelsbühl's medieval old town shape the overall experience.
