Welcome to the Summer Nostos Festival 2026 in Athens
From 21 to 28 June 2026, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Kallithea, just south of central Athens, hosts the Summer Nostos Festival (SNF Nostos); a free, week long celebration organized by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. 2026 also marks the foundation's thirtieth anniversary of grantmaking, so the program is one of the largest yet, spanning concerts, dance, sport, workshops and an international conference.

Program
The festival takes over the whole SNFCC site: the Stavros Niarchos Park, the Great Lawn, the Agora and the Greek National Opera building. At its core is the SNF Nostos Conference, offering talks and discussions across several themed "Houses". Musically, the collaboration with Release Athens brings the biggest names: David Byrne opens the concert series on the Great Lawn on 21 June, followed by Jean Michel Jarre on 22 June; on 25 June, Gorillaz headline Plateia Nerou together with The Flaming Lips and Jehnny Beth. The SNF Nostos Run takes place on 23 June, a charity race starting at the Panathenaic Stadium and finishing at the SNFCC. The week closes with an Up Late Party in the Agora.
Tickets
Access to the SNFCC and most of the festival program (conference, sport, workshops, family activities) is free; some sessions require online preregistration. The major evening concerts under Release Athens x SNF Nostos (David Byrne, Jean Michel Jarre, Gorillaz) are sold separately and have sold out quickly in the past. For the SNF Nostos Run, a nominal entry fee is charged, going entirely toward partner nonprofit organizations.
Visitor Tips
- The SNFCC is about 4.5 kilometers south of central Athens; taking the free shuttle bus from Syngrou Fix metro station is recommended.
- Book tickets early for the separately sold evening concerts.
- The Stavros Niarchos Park offers shaded green areas, but bring light clothing and water for evening events.
- Families with children will find the weekend programming especially suited to them.
- The Lighthouse terrace offers free panoramic views of Athens and the Bay of Phaleron and is worth a visit regardless of the festival program.
