Welcome to New Year’s Eve 2026/2027 in Tallinn

Tallinn sees out 2026 and welcomes 2027 with a mix of free open-air celebration, a formal opera ball, dinner shows and club nights. On 31 December 2026 the city’s main countdown is at Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak); hotels, theatres and clubs run dedicated programmes into the early hours of 1 January 2027. Many club tickets and dinner packages are only released in late autumn — check each venue’s official site closer to the date.

Highlights & Attractions at New Year’s Eve in Tallinn

  • Free New Year’s Eve concert and light show on Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak) on 31 December 2026 — the city’s central open-air celebration with Estonian acts and pyrotechnic/laser effects instead of a classic fireworks display.
  • Estonian National Opera New Year’s Eve Ball: “Blame It All on Champagne!” — Art Deco-style masquerade with orchestra, ballet, soloists and dancing until about 01:30 (dress code: dark suit, age 16+).
  • Chamber music in the historic Tallinn Town Hall (Raekoda): duo Virgo Veldi (saxophone) and Momir Novakovic (accordion) on 31 December 2026 at 15:00 and 17:00.
  • Dinner and variety evenings with show and buffet, including Viru Varietee at Park Inn by Radisson Meriton (Toompuiestee 27) and Resto Armanž (Mustamäe tee 44/1).
  • Club and afterparty formats: COCOON (Tartu mnt 16) with the “Libertine Dance Night” until 05:00; other mainstream clubs (Venus, Privé, Hollywood/Monument building) usually announce special nights from November/December.
  • Fotografiska Tallinn (Telliskivi): New Year’s Eve dinner on the 6th floor with city views, a 4-course menu and exhibitions open until 02:00.
  • The Christmas market on Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) is listed to run until 6 January 2027 — useful for a mulled-wine stroll before the evening programme.

Glass bottles and private fireworks are typically not allowed on the square; nearby streets close in the evening. Public transport often runs extended hours into the early morning of 1 January.

Estonian National Opera (Estonia pst 4): “New Year’s Eve Ball – Blame It All on Champagne!” on 31 December 2026. Doors from about 18:30, opening waltz 19:30, cafés and bars until 01:00, building closes 01:30. Concert performance, orchestra, chorus, national ballet and surprises; tickets available with or without a seat for the stage show. Tickets via tickets.opera.ee.

Adults-only lifestyle format for women, couples and pre-selected gentlemen; dress code “Sexy Costume”. Door prices recently: ladies 15 €, couples 80 €, pre-selected gentlemen 120 €. Tickets via Fienta; sales announced from mid-December 2026. Strict house rules apply.

Other clubs: Venus Club (Vana-Viru 14), Privé (Harju 6), Club Hollywood / Monument (Vana-Posti 8) and HALL (Peetri 6) are established nightlife spots.
