Welcome to the Thessaloniki International Film Festival 2026
From 5 to 15 November 2026, the 67th edition of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival takes place, Greece's most important and oldest film festival (founded in 1960) and one of the most respected film festivals in Southeast Europe. Over ten days, the festival showcases independent and international cinema, debut works and world premieres, traditionally with a strong focus on innovative storytelling and emerging directors.

Program
The main venues are the historic Olympion at Aristotelous Square with its two cinema halls, and Warehouse 1 at the Port of Thessaloniki, home to the John Cassavetes and Stavros Tornes theatres; this is also where the atmospheric evening and night screenings take place right by the water. Additional venues include Pavlos Zannas, Tonia Marketaki and Frida Liappa. Screenings run daily from around 1:00 PM into the late evening, alongside audience talks, masterclasses and the parallel co production forum TIFF Agora. The competition section focuses on first or second feature films by international directors, complemented by tributes to established filmmakers and thematic national cinema programs.
Tickets
Tickets are sold online through the festival website and at box offices at Aristotelous Square and near the port. A single ticket typically costs around 5 euros; discounted packages are available for multiple screenings, including a ten screening package for around 35 euros. Students, unemployed people and people with disabilities can receive a free allotment of tickets for early screenings upon presenting the relevant documentation. Online purchases are possible up to two hours before each screening.
Visitor Tips
- Buy tickets online early, as popular screenings and premieres sell out quickly.
- Bring warm clothing for evening screenings at Warehouse 1, since the venue sits right along the waterfront promenade.
- Olympion and Warehouse 1 are about a fifteen to twenty minute walk apart; allow enough time when moving between venues.
- Entry closes once a screening has started, so latecomers will not be admitted.
- The city center around Aristotelous Square offers plenty of cafés for the time between screenings.
