Welcome to the Thun Christmas Market 2026 in Thun
The Thun Christmas Market takes place from 27 November to 23 December 2026 between Waisenhausplatz and Mühleplatz in the old town of Thun. Along the Aare, more than 50 festively decorated wooden chalets transform the alleys into a cosy Christmas paradise. Open daily Monday to Saturday 11:00–20:00 and Sundays 11:00–18:00, the market invites visitors to stroll among regional specialities, crafts and festive lights. Gastronomy remains open until 28 December.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Thun Christmas Market stretches from Waisenhausplatz across the mill bridge to Mühleplatz and combines shopping, food and winter activities. Fridays and Saturdays are particularly lively. On Mühleplatz visitors can try ice stock shooting. On selected dates there are donkey rides and a visit from Samichlaus. Food and drink stalls remain open until 28 December, offering warm drinks and snacks after the main market hours.
Thun Advent Market
On Saturday 28 November 2026 from 9:00 to 17:00 the Thun Advent Market takes place on Bälliz and in the old town. It offers Christmas products, gifts and decorations and marks the start of the Advent season before the main Christmas market.
Further Advent Highlights in Thun
In addition to the market there is the Chlouse-Schwümme on 5 December 2026, where brave participants jump into the Aare, as well as the festive Christmas lighting and the Christmas Event that opens the season. Ice stock lanes and other activities around the market provide variety.

- Arrival by train to Thun station is ideal – the old town and market are within walking distance. Parking is available in the surrounding area for those arriving by car.
