Welcome to the Mühldorf a. Inn Traditional Folk Festival 2026
From 28 August to 7 September 2026, the festival grounds on the banks of the Inn river in Mühldorf a. Inn turn once again into a Bavarian festival mile. The Traditionsvolksfest dates back to 1865 and takes place for the 161st time in 2026; with more than 200,000 visitors, it ranks among the largest folk festivals in southeastern Bavaria.

Program
The festival opens on Friday, 28 August 2026, with the traditional beer tapping ceremony, after which freshly tapped festival beer flows in all three beer tents. On Sunday, 30 August, an international parade of traditional costume and rifle clubs moves through the city center, joined by groups from Mühldorf's partner towns. Over the eleven festival days, brass bands and party bands provide entertainment in the tents, while the Wein Stadl offers a wide wine selection and the Stadl Tirol serves alpine and schlager music. Special program days include a seniors' day, a county day and a children and youth day with discounted ride prices. The festival closes on its final day with a musical and pyrotechnic fireworks display over the Inn river.
Tickets
Entry to the festival grounds is free. Beer tents, rides, game booths, food and drinks are paid for individually, and prices are considered moderate and family friendly. Table reservations in the beer tents can be made directly with the tent operators; booking ahead is recommended for weekends.
Visitor Tips
- Traveling by train (Munich Mühldorf Simbach line) or via the A94 motorway is recommended.
- Special night bus services run to surrounding communities during the festival.
- Parking is accessible via Pregelstraße, with disabled parking near the Stadtsaal.
- Expect larger crowds on weekends and during the parade on 30 August; arriving early is worthwhile.
- The seniors' day and the children and youth day offer reduced prices for their respective groups.
