Welcome to the Turnier des Löwen at Niederburg Kranichfeld
When the Thuringian lion calls for a tournament, things get serious at Niederburg Kranichfeld: on 3 and 4 October 2026, the historic castle in the Weimarer Land district once again turns into a grand medieval tournament arena. At the "Turnier des Löwen" (Tournament of the Lion), knights on horseback compete against each other with jousting, music, jesters and a lively market around the castle walls.

Program and Opening Times: What's on at Niederburg?
The grounds open on Saturday, 3 October, from 11 am to 8 pm, and on Sunday, 4 October, from 11 am to 7 pm. The main knights' tournaments take place both days at 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm. On Saturday evening at 7 pm, the fire riding show closes out the program. Throughout the day, musicians, jester Alf and Lutz der Enterbte's water guillotine provide entertainment between tournament slots.
