Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

New Year's Eve in Val Thorens traditionally starts in the early evening with the torchlit descent on Place Caron and with bars and pubs where live music and happy hours set the mood. Last year's edition also featured a free DJ set with a light show on the roof of the sports centre before fireworks lit up the sky above the resort at midnight. Whether these items return in the same form for 2026/2027 has not yet been announced by the tourist office.

After the fireworks the action moves into the clubs: Malaysia opens from 10 pm and runs until 5 am, Klub Summit stays open until 4 am, and Favela turns into a nightclub from 10 pm. On special nights such as New Year's Eve, clubs usually charge an entrance fee that is often waived on normal nights. The official resort programme with the torchlit descent and fireworks has traditionally been free. The clubs and bars set their own terms: according to the operators, a combined ticket for Favela, Saloon, Downunder and Klub Summit covers all four venues all night plus two drinks at the first venue you enter; doors open in the late evening and guaranteed entry applies only until 11 pm. Prices were not published. For Malaysia, Le Jackie and Klub Summit, table and reservation options are handled directly by the clubs. Please check all prices in euros with the organisers early, as New Year tickets can sell out quickly.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Val Thorens

• Most visitors arrive by train to Moûtiers and continue by bus to the resort; if you drive, allow for winter road conditions and the equipment requirements in the Alps
• At around 2,300 metres it is very cold on New Year's Eve; wear warm layers, a hat, gloves and shoes with good grip for the snowy paths between venues
• Accommodation and chalet dinners should be booked many months ahead, as prices rise sharply over the New Year period
• The clubs and bars sit close together around Place Caron and Rue de Gébroulaz and can be reached on foot
• Alcohol was not allowed on the sports centre roof last year; respect each venue's house rules and remember that altitude can intensify the effects of alcohol
