The Valletta Cultural Agency lists the national celebration on 31 December 2026 from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am at St George’s Square. The established format includes live sets by local singers, band or orchestra performances, DJ sets before midnight, a countdown and a large pyrotechnic display over the Grand Harbour.

Admission to the national celebration on St George’s Square is free. There are no official ticket tiers for the public square event. Paid options are limited to private restaurant dinners, hotel galas and rooftop parties, which are sold directly by venues and typically range from tens to several hundred euros depending on the package. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Valletta

• Valletta’s core is largely car-free. Arrive by bus at City Gate / Triton Square and walk up Republic Street to St George’s Square. Extended bus services and, in recent years, later ferry runs are usually arranged for New Year’s Eve; taxis and ride-hailing are in high demand after midnight.
• December days often reach about 16–18 °C, with nights around 11–14 °C. It is the wettest month: pack a waterproof jacket, layers and comfortable shoes with grip. Harbour wind can make it feel colder than the thermometer suggests.
• Hotels, guesthouses and apartments in Valletta and nearby Floriana sell out for New Year’s Eve. Book early and favour a walkable address, as traffic into the capital is restricted on the night.
• For the clearest fireworks views, arrive early at the harbour bastions, Upper Barrakka Gardens (if open and accessible), Valletta Waterfront or a rooftop facing the Grand Harbour. St George’s Square is best for the stage and countdown rather than an unobstructed pyrotechnic panorama.
