Welcome to the Vienna Ball Season 2027
Few cities embrace winter as festively as Vienna. The ball season officially opens on 11 November at 11:11 AM with a public waltz on the Graben, but it reaches its peak in January and February 2027, when Vienna becomes the world's grandest ballroom with more than 450 balls and over 2,000 hours of dancing. From the Hofburg to the City Hall and the Vienna State Opera, the city's most magnificent halls turn into glittering dance floors.

Program
Throughout January, a string of traditional balls fills the Viennese calendar; nearly every guild, university and profession hosts its own, often decades old event. The season's crowning highlight is the Vienna Opera Ball on 4 February 2027 at the Vienna State Opera. Around 5,000 guests watch the opera house transform into a magnificent ballroom within hours; about 150 young couples open the evening with a polonaise, and at midnight the call "Alles Walzer!" opens the floor to everyone. Those who cannot get a ticket for the ball itself can attend the dress rehearsal the evening before, offering a look at the decorations, the debutantes and the first run through.

Prices vary widely by ball and category. The Vienna Coffeehouse Ball costs around 180 to 210 euros, with discounted student tickets available. Opera Ball prices range from around 350 euros for a standing ticket to several thousand euros for a private box, with box prices reaching over 23,000 euros. Tickets for the Opera Ball dress rehearsal cost between 50 and 120 euros. Booking early is recommended, as popular balls sell out quickly.
