Welcome to the Vodafone Paredes de Coura Festival
The Vodafone Paredes de Coura Festival takes place from 12 to 15 August 2026 at the scenic river beach Praia Fluvial do Taboão in the Minho region of northern Portugal. As Portugal's oldest alternative music festival (founded in 1993), it has been recognised by Rolling Stone as one of the five best festivals in Europe. Past performers include Arcade Fire, Pixies, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and Fontaines D.C., all of whom have played on the riverside stage.
Highlights
- Four festival days right on the Taboão river beach, surrounded by the hills of Minho
- A lineup built around indie, alternative rock and electronic music
- Free official camping for all Full Pass holders
- Swimming in the Coura River between sets
- One of Europe's most sustainability-focused festivals with zero-waste initiatives
- An international crowd drawn from across Europe and Brazil
Program
Gates typically open at noon, with main performances running from late afternoon into the early morning hours, followed by after-parties and chill-out sessions. The full 2026 lineup is being announced gradually on the official website, staying true to the festival's focus on indie rock, alternative and electronic acts alongside emerging Portuguese talent.
Tickets
The Full Festival Ticket costs €130 plus operating costs and grants access to all four days plus the official campsite once it opens. Camping space is limited and not guaranteed for all ticket holders. Children up to and including 11 years old enter free when accompanied by a parent or guardian; children between 12 and 15 pay full price and must also be accompanied. Day tickets are available in limited quantities; early booking is recommended as the festival regularly sells out.
Getting There
Paredes de Coura is located around 100 km from Porto. By car, the drive via the A3 motorway takes roughly 1.5 hours. Alternatively, take a train from Porto to Valença (about 1.5 hours), followed by a connecting bus to Paredes de Coura. From Lisbon, a Rede Expressos coach takes around 4 hours. Free shuttles run from the Paredes de Coura bus terminal, and free parking is available on site.
Visitor Tips
- Bring a tent and sleeping bag if staying at the official campsite.
- Pack swimwear for dips in the Coura River.
- A warm jacket is essential for the night, as temperatures drop noticeably by the river.
- Sturdy shoes are recommended for the uneven riverside terrain.
- Bring a reusable water bottle, as free refill points are available on site.
- Those not camping should consider accommodation in Ponte de Lima, Valença or Viana do Castelo, since demand in Paredes de Coura itself is very high.
