Welcome to the Wachau Wine Spring 2027
On Saturday, 1 May, and Sunday, 2 May 2027, more than 100 wineries along the Danube open their doors and invite visitors to taste the new vintage. The Wachau Wine Spring (Wachauer Weinfrühling) is the annual presentation by the Vinea Wachau winegrowers and one of Austria's most popular wine events; from 10 AM to 6 PM on both days, visitors can move freely from winery to winery and discover the wines of Spitz, Weißenkirchen, Dürnstein and Rossatz without any prior booking.

Program
On both event days from 10 AM to 6 PM, all participating wineries can be visited freely; the tasting format varies by producer, but every stop offers the chance to sample several wines of the current vintage. A list of all participating wineries is published each year in the Weinfrühling flyer, available at every winery on the event weekend. On Saturday evening, winemakers and guests gather for the Steinfeder Night at Schloss Spitz: three bars pour wines from Vinea Wachau member wineries and guest producers, live music starts at 8 PM, and a varied culinary offering including vegetarian dishes rounds out the evening.
Tickets
The wristband costs 40 euros and grants tastings at all participating wineries plus free use of the Wachau bus lines, the Wachau railway and the Danube ferries on both event days. It can be purchased in advance through the Vinea online shop, on site directly from participating wineries, or at the tourist information offices in Krems, Spitz and Melk. The separate Steinfeder Night at Schloss Spitz costs 20 euros at the door; showing the Wine Spring wristband gets you two wine vouchers included.
Visitor Tips
- Book accommodation early, as the Wine Spring weekend is one of the most in demand of the year.
- Groups larger than seven people should split into smaller groups, since Wachau wineries are traditionally small in scale.
- Traveling by Wachau railway, bus or Danube ferry is included in the wristband and helps ease traffic and parking.
- Extra evening trains on the Wachau railway toward Krems make the trip home easier.
- Bring cash, since on site wristband purchases can only be paid in cash.
