Waking Life takes place every summer at Herdade dos Pisões, near the small town of Crato in the Alentejo region of Portugal. For 2027, another edition is expected around the summer solstice in June, although the organizers at Associação Waking Life have not yet confirmed official dates. The festival is regarded as one of Europe's key gatherings for experimental electronic music, art and alternative culture.

- Crato sits in the rural Alentejo region, roughly a two hour drive from Lisbon, so arranging your own transport or a shuttle from a major city is advisable
- June brings very high temperatures to the area, so light clothing, sun protection and plenty of water are essential
- Most attendees camp directly on site, though some pre set up accommodation options are also available
- Since Crato is fairly remote, it is worth planning your travel well in advance
