The Alexanderplatz Christmas Market 2026 is Berlin’s big-city winter square: market, funfair and party under the TV Tower, on top of an S-Bahn and U-Bahn hub. It is run by Bergmann Eventgastronomie e.K. Berlin’s official portal describes it as a mix of traditional market, fairground and night-out venue. 2026 dates had not been published as of September 2026. Last season ran from 24 November to 26 December 2025, daily 11:00–22:00. Admission is traditionally free.

Expect around 50 lit wooden huts, a Ferris wheel, carousels, lottery booths, Europe’s largest walk-in Ore Mountain Christmas pyramid, a roller-skating rink and Santa’s Party House. Mulled wine, roast chestnuts and grilled sausage are the staples. If you want quiet timber-frame romance, walk 200 metres to Rotes Rathaus – on Alexanderplatz the point is pace, light and capital-city noise.

Until berlin.de and the organiser release 2026 hours, use last season as a guide: market 11:00–22:00 daily, pyramid PartyTreff 11:00–24:00, Party House from 12:00. It last closed on 26 December, so it is one of the Berlin markets that runs through Christmas Day – confirm 2026 closing dates before you travel. After dark, when the TV Tower and the pink-gold pyramid light up, the square looks its best; weekends get packed. Tower musicians sit under the turning pyramid figures. The roller rink adds classes and disco nights; the Party House runs a continuous soundtrack. Food and drink are paid at the stall; rides and skating are extra.

Do not confuse this market with Berliner Weihnachtszeit at Rotes Rathaus. The 50-metre panoramic Ferris wheel and the ice rink around the Neptune Fountain belong to the City Hall market, a few minutes’ walk away. Alexanderplatz has the smaller fairground wheel, carousels and the pyramid. Together they form Berlin’s densest Christmas-market cluster in Mitte, with the Humboldt Forum and Gendarmenmarkt also in walking range.

The walk-in giant pyramid is the landmark: mulled wine and Thuringian sausage at ground level, views towards the TV Tower above, brass players among the rotating figures at weekends. Ferris wheel, antique carousels and lottery booths turn the square into a family fair; queues for rides often beat queues for crafts. For photos, come after dusk, when wet pavement mirrors the Fernsehturm.

Roller rink, not ice: action on Alexanderplatz in Berlin

Alexanderplatz runs a roller-skating rink, not an ice rink (ice is at the Neptune Fountain). Beginner sessions and roller discos on selected evenings make it a mini-programme of its own. Ice skaters walk five minutes to Rotes Rathaus. The rink sits in the middle of the crowd – bring patience at peak hours. 2026 disco dates will come with the organiser’s season sheet.

Berliner Weihnachtszeit at Rotes Rathaus – 200 metres from Alexanderplatz

Next door, around Spandauer Strasse / Rotes Rathaus, 10178 Berlin. Official 2026 dates: not yet announced (last season 24 November to 30 December 2025). Entry was free. This is home to the 50-metre panoramic Ferris wheel with enclosed gondolas (views towards the Brandenburg Gate), ice around the Neptune Fountain, the Old Berlin market lane, historic carousels and Santa, who last season arrived by sleigh three times a day (16:30, 18:30, 20:30). Eat on Alexanderplatz, skate at City Hall – that is the Mitte loop. U5 Rotes Rathaus, 0.5 km from the Alex.

Winter market at the Humboldt Forum and Schlossplatz in Berlin

Confirmed: 18 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 in front of the Berlin Palace and in the Schlüterhof. Free entry. Closed on Totensonntag (22 November) and 24 December; typically 11:00–22:00. Crafts, regional food, chain and children’s carousels, shorter queues and less fairground noise than Alexanderplatz. WeihnachtsZauber Gendarmenmarkt – the elegant neighbour in Berlin-Mitte

Confirmed: 23 November to 31 December 2026 on one of Berlin’s finest squares (Konzerthaus, German and French cathedrals). Unlike free Alexanderplatz, this market has charged a small fee in recent years (2025: 2 EUR, under-2s free, Monday–Friday 12:00–15:00 free) – check the 2026 tariff on the market site. Quality crafts, a stage, a tall spruce. U5 Unter den Linden or U2/U6 Stadtmitte; one U-Bahn stop or a 15–20 minute walk from Alexanderplatz. Go here when the Alex gets too loud.

Winter World at Potsdamer Platz – same organiser

Bergmann also runs Winterwelt at Potsdamer Platz: a roughly 12-metre sled run, Austrian huts (Schmankerl, Gösser/Stiegl Alm), DJ weekends. visitBerlin lists 2026 as expected from late October to late December, daily 11:00–22:00, Christmas Eve until 16:00, free entry; berlin.de still marks dates as unknown. U2 Potsdamer Platz, direct from Alexanderplatz on the U2. For serious rides, add Lichtenberger Winterzeit (31 October to 26 December 2026, 55-metre Ferris wheel and large attractions, closed 22 November).

Lucia Christmas Market at Kulturbrauerei and more from Berlin

Lucia at Kulturbrauerei (Prenzlauer Berg, Schönhauser Allee 36) is confirmed 23 November to 22 December 2026: Scandinavian courtyard, culture programme – the calm counterweight to Alexanderplatz. Charlottenburg Palace: 23–27 December 2026. Breitscheidplatz/Kurfürstendamm: 23 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. All three are an S-Bahn or U-Bahn hop from the Alex. A solid Berlin circuit is one day in Mitte (Alexanderplatz + City Hall + Humboldt Forum) plus an evening at Gendarmenmarkt or Kulturbrauerei.

Entry to the Alexanderplatz Christmas Market in Berlin is free – there is no day ticket for the square. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Berlin

• Getting there: S+U Alexanderplatz (S3, S5, S7, S9, U2, U5, U8) sits under the market; trams M2, M4, M5, M6 and buses 100/200/M48. Skip the car – nearby garages such as Alexa are expensive and the square is packed. A Deutschland-Ticket or VBB 24-hour ticket covers Alexanderplatz, City Hall, Humboldt Forum and Gendarmenmarkt.
• Weather and clothing: Open concrete plaza, wind and rain more often than snow. Waterproof shoes and an extra layer for the roller rink. The pyramid and the Party House are the covered warm spots.
• Where to stay: Mitte around Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt and Museum Island is walkable. Book Advent weekends early. For quieter nights, sleep in Prenzlauer Berg or Kreuzberg and ride U2/U8 in the evening. Alexa mall and the TV Tower (separate tickets, recently about 25–28 EUR for adults) are next door.

• How to combine: 90 minutes on Alexanderplatz (pyramid, wheel, food), walk to Rotes Rathaus (ice and the 50-metre wheel), continue to the Humboldt Forum. If you only want big rides, plan Lichtenberg or Potsdamer Platz as a separate stop – Alexanderplatz is urban and loud, but it is not Berlin’s largest funfair.
