Welcome to the Christmas Market of a Thousand Stars 2026 in Cottbus
From November 23 to December 23, 2026, the city center of Cottbus once again turns into a sea of festive lights. The Christmas Market of a Thousand Stars stretches across the Altmarkt, Spremberger Straße, Platz am Stadtbrunnen and the area around the Blechen Carré, making it one of the best known Christmas markets in the Lusatia region.
Highlights and Attractions at the Cottbus Christmas Market
- More than 1000 red and white Herrnhut stars illuminating the entire city center
- A 14 meter tall Christmas tree on the Altmarkt, decorated with the market's signature Herrnhut stars
- A three tier, brightly lit Christmas pyramid at the heart of the market
- Around 75 beautifully decorated stalls offering handicrafts, gift ideas and regional food
- The scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds and grilled specialties throughout the market area

Program and Schedule: When and What Happens in Cottbus
The market is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm, while the food and drink stalls stay open until 9 pm. The market is closed on December 24. Throughout Advent, festive music, small stage programs and the traditional cutting of the giant Christmas stollen at the opening ceremony bring extra atmosphere to the Altmarkt and Spremberger Straße.

Visiting the Christmas Market of a Thousand Stars is completely free. There is no admission fee, only food, drinks and goods purchased at individual stalls are paid for on site.
