Welcome to the Neumünster Christmas Market 2026
From November 19 to December 23, 2026, the Großflecken square in the heart of Neumünster once again turns into a festive winter world. Around the historic market square with its red brick architecture, lovingly decorated stalls, warm string lights and the scent of mulled wine invite visitors for a relaxed stroll. The market is one of the most popular winter events in Schleswig Holstein and draws families, couples and groups from across the region.

The Christmas market in Neumünster is fully centered on Großflecken square, yet it is organized into several themed sections that together create a varied experience.
The Main Market on the Southern Großflecken
At the heart of the event is the classic Christmas market on the southern side of Großflecken, offering handcrafted goods, gift items and culinary classics such as mulled wine, roasted almonds and hearty grilled specialties. A special highlight is the cozy Christmas village, where fire baskets in the middle invite visitors to warm up.
The Ice Rink on Großflecken
The centerpiece of the market is the roughly 375 square meter ice rink, set up under a tent on the southern side of Großflecken next to the Klatsch Palais building. The rink uses high quality synthetic ice with good gliding properties and requires no complex cooling technology. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the traditional curling competition for companies, clubs and groups also takes place there.
The Northern Section in Front of the Former Karstadt Store
Following the success of previous years, the Christmas market again extends in 2026 to the northern tip of Großflecken directly in front of the former department store building. Families will find a children's carousel there along with additional food stalls spread across several hundred meters of frontage.

Program and Schedule: What Happens on Großflecken?
The market typically opens around 11:00 AM most days; in previous years opening hours ran Monday to Wednesday until 8:30 PM, Thursday to Saturday until 9:00 PM, and Sunday from noon until 8:30 PM. On December 6, Saint Nicholas traditionally visits the market, and an expanded lighting concept adds extra sparkle along Kuhberg street, at Konrad Adenauer Platz and along the cycle path leading to the market. Exact 2026 opening hours will be confirmed by the city of Neumünster shortly before the market begins.
Admission and Costs at the Neumünster Christmas Market
Access to the entire Christmas market, including the Christmas village, is free of charge. Only food, drinks, rides and use of the ice rink come with the usual market prices. Exact ice rink fees for 2026 will be published by the city of Neumünster and the supervising sports association before the season starts.
