Program
The market takes place exclusively on Advent weekends. On Fridays, the festivities usually start in the late afternoon, while on Saturdays and Sundays, the market opens earlier (daily opening hours slightly vary, typically between 11:00 AM/2:00 PM and 8:00 PM). Jugglers, historical music groups, and fire-breathers roam the grounds. Children can look forward to petting zoos and visits from St. Nicholas, while adults can marvel at ancient craft techniques.
Tickets
There is an admission fee to access the castle grounds, typically ranging from €6 to €8 (children up to 12 years often enter for free). Tickets can be purchased at the box office on-site. Booking online in advance via the official website is recommended to avoid long queues on busy weekends.
Visitor Tips
- Since the market is mostly outdoors and on partially unpaved castle paths, sturdy and dirt-resistant footwear is essential.
- Pack very warm clothing; it can get quite freezing on the castle hill in the evening.
- Ample parking is available on the adjacent meadows (directed by staff).
- Bring cash, as card payments are often not accepted at the historical stalls.
- Plan to stay until dusk to fully experience the romantic effect of the torches and fire pits.
