Welcome to the Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market 2026 in Vienna
From 6 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, the Court of Honour at Schönbrunn Palace once again transforms into a magical Christmas world. In front of the imposing façade of the former Habsburg residence, more than 90 lovingly decorated stalls, countless lights and a unique festive atmosphere await you. Admission is free – enjoy traditional crafts, regional cuisine and attractions for the whole family in an imperial setting.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market is open for 62 days and offers a varied programme for young and old. From 6 November to 23 December 2026 it is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00. On 24 December reduced hours apply from 10:00 to 16:00. From 25 December 2026 to 6 January 2027 the market is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00. In addition to strolling and shopping, ice skating, curling, the carousel and Ferris wheel invite you to join in. Choirs and musical ensembles provide festive sounds every day. Especially on Wednesdays and weekends there is an intensive family programme with workshops and shows.
Tickets & Admission for Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market Vienna
Admission to the Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market is free of charge. Costs only arise for food, drinks and optional attractions. Rides such as the Ferris wheel cost around 5 euros per ride (4 rides approx. 20 euros), carousel and children’s train about 3.50 euros. Ice skating is often free for children under 14 until 14:00, afterwards approx. 3 euros for children and 6 euros for adults. Food and mulled wine/punch are at the usual market level. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Vienna
- Best reached by public transport: U4 to Schönbrunn or Hietzing station, tram lines 10 or 60 and bus 10A stop directly at the palace. Car parks (APCOA) fill up very quickly at weekends.
- Dress warmly in layers – the courtyard is exposed to wind. Sturdy shoes and gloves are recommended for ice skating and longer stays.
- Book accommodation in Hietzing or Meidling early; demand is high during peak season and on public holidays.
- Visit the market in the early evening hours when the lights on the palace façade and Christmas tree create a particularly magical atmosphere.
- Combine your market visit with a palace tour or a walk in the palace gardens (note park closing times).
