Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
Over nine days, a lively program of music and hands on activities fills the stage on the Marktplatz. School choirs, music schools and dance groups from Zittau and the surrounding area take turns performing, alongside appearances by international children's and youth choirs and a photo session with Santa Claus. On opening day, Santa and his angels arrive together with the mayor to officially open both the Christmas market and the Festival of Lights.
Food, Crafts and Atmosphere at the Christmas Market
Admission to the Christmas market is free. Stalls offer classic seasonal treats such as bratwurst, gingerbread, mulled wine and punch, along with regional crafts and gift ideas. The festive lighting and the scent of roasted almonds create a particularly romantic mood on the cool December evenings.
