From November 24, 2026 to January 3, 2027, the UNESCO World Heritage old town of Weimar turns into one of Thuringia's most atmospheric Christmas settings. The Weimar Christmas Market stretches from Theaterplatz Square with its famous Goethe Schiller monument, through Schillerstraße and Frauenplan, all the way to the historic Marktplatz and Herderplatz.

The Weimar Christmas Market generally opens at 11am, with extended hours running until 10pm on most days. The market is closed on December 24 and 25 and on January 1. Choirs and brass ensembles perform daily in front of the town hall and the Christmas tree, while additional, sometimes ticketed concerts take place in the town church and the German National Theatre.

Tickets and Admission for the Weimar Christmas Market

Admission to all market areas of the Weimar Christmas Market is free. Only the ice rink at Theaterplatz and select concerts in the town church or national theatre come at an additional cost. The Bienenmuseum Advent Market follows the museum's regular admission prices.
