Welcome to the Vienna Festival 2027
From May 14 to June 20, 2027, Vienna once again becomes the Free Republic of Vienna. As one of Europe's most significant cross genre art festivals, the Vienna Festival brings theatre, opera, dance and performance from around the world to more than thirty venues across the city.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
For five to six weeks, directors, choreographers and musicians from around the world turn the city's stages into a laboratory of the performing arts. The full 2027 program will be announced in spring; the season traditionally opens with the large scale event on Rathausplatz before continuing across Vienna's many venues.
Tickets and Admission for the Vienna Festival
Presale opens in April through the official webshop, by phone or at the day box office. Tickets for individual productions typically start around 8 to 10 euros, with many productions priced in the mid double digits. Visitors under thirty pay a flat 15 euros for any performance. Exact 2027 prices have not yet been confirmed. The opening event on Rathausplatz and a number of open air formats are free to attend.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Vienna
- All venues are well connected by underground, bus or tram, so a car is not needed
- Arrive early for the opening event on Rathausplatz, as the square tends to fill up
- Late May and June usually bring mild to warm early summer weather to Vienna
- Book accommodation near the city centre or MuseumsQuartier well ahead given the festival's long duration
- For in demand productions, buying tickets early through the presale is advisable
