Welcome to the Rheinfelden Winter Village 2026 in Rheinfelden

Rheinfelden in Switzerland – not Rheinfelden (Baden) on the German bank – is a historic border town with an old town, a Rhine bridge and the Feldschlösschen brewery castle. Tourism Rheinfelden says there is no single classic Christmas market. Instead Adventsfunkeln bundles lights, small fairs and the Feldschlösschen Winterdorf. Winterdorf 2026 is confirmed: Thursday 26 November to Sunday 29 November on the brewery grounds, Feldschlösschenstrasse 32, 4310 Rheinfelden. 2026 hours are still to come; in 2025 Friday 16:00–21:00, Saturday 14:00–21:00, Sunday 11:00–17:00. Entry has been free.

Swiss parks list Adventsfunkeln 2026 from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027; the city site still showed the 2025/26 season in September 2026. Recheck tourismus-rheinfelden.ch. Rheinfelden is on the SBB and the High Rhine, minutes from the border, 15–20 minutes from Basel and easy to pair with Liestal.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

Winterdorf is the dated 2026 core: 26–29 November on the Feldschlösschen site. Brauwelt promises stalls, food, decoration and music; tours, specials and the hour-by-hour grid come later. Last year meant mulled wine, punch, draught beer, sausages, wood and salt goods, beer gifts and carriages. META hours 16:00–21:00 follow last year’s Friday until 2026 hours are posted.

Around it the city runs an Advent net. In 2025 lights started at 16:30, street lighting at 15:30, two big trees at the town hall, about 70 school- and trade-decorated trees, late shopping and open Sundays. Satellite fairs last year: Augarten (29 November), old-town flea market with 100-plus stalls (29 November), Advent at the Martinum (13 December), WeihnachtsKreativMarkt at Kurbrunnenanlage with 90-plus makers (13–14 December). Those 2026 dates were not all public yet – same pattern, verify closer in.

Feldschlösschen Winterdorf at the beer castle

After a fifth edition in 2025, 2026 runs 26–29 November. Address: Feldschlösschen Brauwelt, Feldschlösschenstrasse 32. The brewery visitor world stays open during the village. Last year entry was free, tours bookable, carriages on site. Updates: brauwelt.ch and feldschloesschen.ch. Cashless rules can apply – bring a card.

Light trail and old-town Adventsfunkeln

The old town between Marktgasse, the town hall, Schifflände and Obertor is the second stage: illumination, Advent windows, guided walks, the brewery six-in-hand bringing Christmas beer to the Rathaus. Winterdorf and the Städtli are a short hop, not the same square.

WeihnachtsKreativMarkt at Kurbrunnenanlage

Mid-December (2025: 13–14 December) brings 90-plus makers from Rheinfelden and across Switzerland to Kurbrunnenanlage. Objects, jewellery, textiles – not a mulled-wine crush. Check 2026 on kreativmarkt-rheinfelden.com. A good second Rheinfelden day after the winter village.

Flea market, Martinum and Augarten

The flea market at Brodlaube and Obertorplatz (2025: 29 November, 100-plus stalls) is a hunt, not a design fair. Advent at the Martinum is a small church bazaar with engraving, lunch and cake. Augarten was a one-day market in 2025. None of the three had a locked 2026 day list yet – Eventfrog and tourismus-rheinfelden.ch. Shop chalets such as Albrechtli and Schwyzerhüsli can sit in the lanes for weeks.

Liestal Christmas Market in the Stedtli

The cantonal capital’s four-day market is confirmed: 10–13 December 2026, Rathausstrasse, 11:00–20:00 (Sunday to 18:00, food Thursday–Saturday to 21:00). KMU Liestal, free entry, weihnachtsmarkt-liestal.ch. From Rheinfelden by SBB via Basel or by car on the A3/A2/A22. Winterdorf and Liestal do not overlap in 2026 – late November versus mid-December.

Rheinfelden (Baden) – the German neighbour across the Rhine

Opposite sits German Rheinfelden (Baden) with its own Kirchplatz/Kastanienpark market, usually the first Advent weekend (2025: 28–30 November, about 35 huts). Different country, euro, organiser. The footbridge makes a double visit possible; the names confuse people constantly. This guide is only for CH-4310.

Other Basel-Landschaft village markets

Allschwil, Arlesheim at the cathedral, Binningen castle park, Pratteln, Aesch, Therwil, Sissach, Muttenz, Gelterkinden and Zwingen castle are typical one- or two-day markets. In 2025 they clustered around the first Advent weekend; 2026 municipal dates were still patchy in September. For visitors, Rheinfelden and Liestal remain the two centres that hold a trip. Winterdorf entry was free in 2025; no 2026 ticket has been announced. Food, drink and optional brewery tours cost extra. Tours were bookable last year; carriages sold on site. Pay in CHF; September 2026 about 1.06 EUR per franc. Advent lights and the old-town walk are public. Craft and flea markets are usually free to enter. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Rheinfelden

• Getting there: Rheinfelden SBB on the Basel–Zurich/High Rhine line. Winterdorf is a short ride to Feldschlösschenstrasse 32; the old town is walkable from the station. Car parks: Schützen, Storchennest, Rhine. Germany is a footbridge away. EuroAirport via Basel.
• Weather: The High Rhine is damp and windy. Solid shoes for cobbles and brewery yards. The castle and river make evenings colder than Liestal’s lanes – extra layer.
• Where to stay: Old-town and spa hotels in Rheinfelden, or Basel as a base. Book Advent weekends early. The city office on Marktgasse can help.
• Combine: Winterdorf 26–29 November 2026, then Basel until 23 December, Liestal 10–13 December, optional German Kirchplatz market. Last year’s ice-disco nights were Fridays – reconfirm for 2026.
• Practical: Keep the two Rheinfeldens apart (CH vs DE). Plan a card for Winterdorf. Lights are worth dusk (16:30 last season). Step-free routes and buggies are noted by the parks network.
