Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

Strobl presents itself as the quietest and most authentic of the three Wolfgangseer Advent villages. The market centres on the village square and the lake promenade. The shepherd’s path leads visitors from the village entrance directly to the large Advent gate. Especially popular are the life-size wooden figures and the nativity landscape by the lake. Every Wednesday the special format “Wann’s dumpa wird im Dorf” takes place, when electric lights are switched off in favour of candles, torches and fire pits. Regular programme points include wind musicians from around 17:00, occasional concerts in the parish church and activities such as speed carving or the children’s Krampus run.

Connection to the other Wolfgangseer Advent Markets

St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang also belong to the Wolfgangseer Advent and are ideally reachable by boat. The Wolfgangsee boat service operates from mid-November to 20 December (Wednesday to Sunday plus 7/8 December) and connects the three places. The “3-in-1 Ticket” allows single boarding and disembarking at all landing stages. In addition there are lantern boat trips and the possibility to take the SchafbergBahn for a winter mountain ride.

Special Atmosphere and Decoration

The decoration in Strobl is deliberately traditional and close to nature. Wood-shingle stalls, Swedish fire pits and the floating 16-metre Advent lantern on the lake create a unique backdrop. The proximity to the water and the quiet village atmosphere make Strobl particularly suitable for families and visitors who prefer to avoid the busier markets.

Tickets & Admission for Wolfgangseer Advent Strobl

Admission to all markets of the Wolfgangseer Advent – including Strobl – is free of charge. Costs only arise for food, drinks, punch and optional offers such as boat trips or mountain railways. The lantern boat trip costs approximately 21 EUR per adult. The “3-in-1 Ticket” for the boat connection is around 31 EUR for adults. Current prices and bookings are available on the official website wolfgangseer-advent.at and via the Wolfgangsee boat service.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Strobl

  • Arrival by car via the B158 or by public transport to Strobl am Wolfgangsee. Parking is available near the village square; arrive early at weekends.
  • Dress warmly and weatherproof – it can be windy and cold by the lake. Sturdy shoes and layers are ideal for outdoor time.
  • Book accommodation in Strobl, St. Wolfgang or St. Gilgen early, as the Advent season on Lake Wolfgangsee is very popular. Many hotels offer special Advent packages.
  • Combine your visit with a boat trip to the other markets and enjoy the evening by the lake when the lights and the floating lantern look particularly beautiful.
  • Experience Wednesday’s “Wann’s dumpa wird im Dorf” – the candle and torch atmosphere is unique and less crowded than the weekends.
