Welcome to the WOMAD Festival 2027 in Cáceres

WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) returns from 7 to 9 May 2027 to the UNESCO Old Town of Cáceres in Extremadura, Spain. Founded by Peter Gabriel and held here since 1992, the free intercultural festival turns historic squares into stages for world music, dance, crafts and workshops. The 2027 artist bill had not been published at the time of research; dates follow Spain’s official tourism listing.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

WOMAD Cáceres 2027 is listed for Friday 7 May to Sunday 9 May 2027. In recent editions, workshops and family activities began in the afternoon, while concerts ran from midday into the night (often until around 02:00). Core venues are Plaza Mayor, Plaza de San Jorge and Plaza de Santa María, with extra spaces such as Palacio de Carvajal. The 2027 line-up is still to be announced. In 2026 the bill included Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, 47Soul, Balkan Paradise Orchestra and artists from Extremadura. Expect world music plus a parallel programme of cinema, dance and the Mercado Global. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Cáceres

• Travel: trains and coaches from Madrid (about 3–4 hours); nearest major airports Madrid-Barajas and Badajoz. Stages are walkable inside the old town.
• Weather and clothing: May is often 15–28 °C and cooler at night. Wear layers, comfortable shoes for cobbles, sun protection and a light rain jacket (storms affected 2026).
• Book lodging early: rooms in the old town and around Plaza Mayor sell out during WOMAD.
• The historic centre is largely car-free; use edge-of-centre car parks and walk.
• Main stages fill up after dark; arrive early for a good view. Check official notices on closures and safety just before the weekend.
