Event Details
When does Ypsigrock 2027 take place?
The exact dates for 2027 have not yet been announced by the organisers (as of August 2026). The 2026 edition of Ypsigrock Festival ran from 6 to 9 August and sold out completely (Full Festival Passes, camping passes and even several day tickets). Based on past editions, the festival traditionally falls in the first or second week of August; this page will be updated once the official date is confirmed.
Where is the festival held?
Ypsigrock does not take place on a single festival ground; instead it spreads across the entire medieval town of Castelbuono in Sicily, nestled between the Madonie Mountains and the Mediterranean coast, about 90 minutes from Palermo airport. The main stage (Ypsi Once Stage) sits in Piazza Castello, right in front of the imposing Castello dei Ventimiglia, with further stages in the cloister of the former San Francesco monastery and at the Ypsicamping site, roughly 6.5 kilometres outside the town centre.
What makes Ypsigrock special?
Since 1997, Ypsigrock has been regarded as Italy's first boutique festival: deliberately kept small, with four stages that never overlap so no act clashes with another. Its defining feature is the "Ypsi Once" rule, meaning every artist can perform on an Ypsigrock stage only once in their career. Past line ups have included The National, Mogwai, Beach House, Caribou, Dinosaur Jr. and Cigarettes After Sex, always alongside rising international and Italian newcomers.
How do you get to Castelbuono?
Most visitors fly into Palermo airport (around 90 minutes by road), then continue by rental car, bus or an organised shuttle. Since Castelbuono is a hill town, the walkways between the different venues include some uphill and downhill sections; shuttle connections are also offered for the Ypsicamping site outside the centre.
How much do tickets cost?
Since dates for 2027 have not been confirmed yet, ticket prices have not been published either. For reference, here is what the 2026 edition cost: Full Festival Pass 139 euros (4 days, camping not included, sold out well ahead of the festival), single day ticket 56 euros, reduced children's ticket (ages 6 to 12) 11 euros. Camping on site required a separate Ypsicamping Pass. Advance sales usually open in December of the previous year via the DICE platform.
Visitor tips
- Book tickets as early as possible; the 2026 edition sold out completely weeks before the festival.
- Pack sturdy shoes, as the paths through the old town are steep and uneven in places.
- Book accommodation in Castelbuono early, since options in town are limited.
- If you plan to camp, don't forget the separate Ypsicamping Pass; it must be booked apart from the festival pass.
- This page will be updated once official 2027 dates and prices are announced.
