Welcome to the Zelt Musik Festival Freiburg 2026
From 15 July to 2 August 2026, the grounds at the Mundenhof on the edge of Freiburg once again turn into a tent city full of music. The Zelt Musik Festival (ZMF), first held in 1983, is one of the best known summer festivals in Baden Württemberg and draws around 120,000 visitors every year; the 42nd edition features acts such as LaBrassBanda, Madsen and Sportfreunde Stiller.
Highlights
- More than 100 events spanning music, cabaret and a family program
- Concerts in the Zirkuszelt (circus tent) and the Spiegelzelt (mirror tent)
- Free action program on several stages with no admission fee
- Located right next to the Mundenhof animal park
- National and international acts across many music genres
- 19 days of festival atmosphere with weekend club nights
Program
The main program takes place at two central venues: the Zirkuszelt, the visual centerpiece of the grounds, and the Spiegelzelt near the entrance. Over the 19 festival days, concerts span many genres, alongside workshops, a colorful children's program and weekend club nights. The free action program adds concerts, cabaret and youth culture events on several open stages at no charge. Concerts in the Zirkuszelt and Spiegelzelt usually start between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM depending on the date.
Tickets
Tickets for individual concerts are sold separately; there is no single day pass covering the whole grounds. Prices vary widely depending on the artist and tent category, ranging from around 4 euros to over 40 euros. Tickets are available through the official website zmf.de as well as through Reservix and other advance sale outlets. Access to the festival grounds and the action program itself is free.
Visitor Tips
- Book popular concerts in the Zirkuszelt early, as they sell out quickly.
- Traveling by bus or train to Freiburg is recommended for a climate friendly trip; the grounds are easy to reach from the station.
- Even without a concert ticket, a visit is worthwhile thanks to the free action program.
- Bring a seat or picnic blanket, as large parts of the grounds are outdoors.
- Check the website for parking information before traveling by car.
