From 19 November to 24 December 2026, Zurich transforms into a magical winter wonderland. The city's premier festive spots include the legendary Christkindlimarkt inside the Main Train Station (HB)—one of Europe's largest indoor markets—and the charming "Wienachtsdorf" (Christmas village) at Sechseläutenplatz right next to the Opera House and Lake Zurich.

Program

The indoor market at the Main Station opens daily at 11:00 AM, offering a magnificent holiday atmosphere shielded from winter weather. Just a short walk away, the Wienachtsdorf at Sechseläutenplatz welcomes visitors daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM (closing slightly earlier on Sundays). Visitors can explore artisan crafts, sip hot mulled wine, and sample everything from traditional Swiss fondue to international delicacies.

Tickets

Admission to all Zurich Christmas markets, including the Main Station and Sechseläutenplatz, is completely free of charge. No tickets are needed to enter the market grounds. Table reservations are only recommended if you plan to dine inside the popular fondue chalets.

Visitor Tips

  • Combine both markets easily on foot: start inside the Main Station and stroll down Bahnhofstrasse to the lake.
  • Take time to admire the sparkling Swarovski crystal tree in the station hall.
