Welcome to the Brussels Flower Carpet 2026
Every two years, the historic heart of Brussels is transformed into a floral masterpiece. The Brussels Flower Carpet will cover the world-famous Grand Place with hundreds of thousands of fresh flowers from August 13 to 16, 2026. The combination of traditional Belgian begonia and dahlia cultivation with creative design attracts visitors from all over the world to the Belgian capital.

Program
The festival begins on the morning of August 13, 2026, with the setup: hundreds of florists and volunteers assemble the carpet in just a few hours using precise handwork. The finished artwork can then be admired throughout the entire weekend. A special highlight occurs in the evening: after dark, the Grand Place is illuminated as part of an impressive sound and light show, making the colors of the flowers look even more magical.
Tickets
Access to the Grand Place and viewing the flower carpet from the square is completely free (€0.00). However, if you want the best view of the entire design and the perfect photo perspective, you should buy a ticket for the balcony of the City Hall. These tickets generally cost around €8.00 (children under 10 are often free) and can be purchased in advance online via the official website or on-site.
Safety & Rules
- As the Grand Place is extremely crowded during these days, visitors are advised to be especially aware of pickpockets.
- Flying drones over the square is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
- Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the old town of Brussels is paved with cobblestones.
- Dogs are allowed on the square, but not recommended due to the large crowds.
Visitor Tips
- It is best to arrive early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the largest crowds.
- The light and sound show takes place every evening between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM – an absolute must-see!
- Buy your balcony ticket online in advance to avoid long queues at the City Hall.
- Traveling by car into the center is difficult; use the train (Gare Central), which is only a short walk from the Grand Place.
- Enjoy a traditional Belgian waffle in one of the surrounding alleys after your visit.
