Welcome to the Fiera di Sant’Orso 2027 in Aosta

The 1027th Fiera di Sant’Orso takes place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January 2027 in the historic centre of Aosta. It is widely regarded as the most important traditional craft fair in the Alps, drawing about a thousand artisans from the Aosta Valley to the city’s pedestrian streets. The Atelier des Métiers and the food-and-wine pavilion open earlier, from Thursday 28 through Sunday 31 January 2027.

Highlights & Attractions at Fiera di Sant’Orso in Aosta

  • Free admission to the entire open-air exhibition along the streets and squares of central Aosta.
  • More than a thousand stalls of traditional craft: wood carving and sculpture, soapstone, wrought iron, copper, leather, weaving (drap), lace, wickerwork and household objects.
  • Atelier des Métiers in Piazza Chanoux: professional master workshops with furniture, sculpture, textiles and home accessories (28–31 January 2027).
  • Enogastronomic pavilion in Piazza Plouves: cheese, cured meats, honey, jams, bakery goods, wine and spirits from the Aosta Valley (28–31 January 2027).
  • Folk music, street animation and a lively atmosphere in the Roman-founded city centre, between the ancient walls and the Collegiate Church of Sant’Orso.
  • The Veillà on the night of 30–31 January: from about 19:00, choirs, folk groups, mulled wine (vin brûlé) and hot broth into the early hours.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The main fair fills the pedestrian streets of the centro storico on 30 and 31 January 2027. Alongside it, the Atelier des Métiers (Piazza Chanoux) and the enogastronomic pavilion (Piazza Plouves) run from 28 to 31 January. In recent editions, main-day opening hours were typically around 08:00–19:00; for 2027, exact times were still listed as “being updated” on some programme pages closer to the previous cycle—check official channels nearer the date for confirmed hours.

Daytime is for browsing and meeting makers; on the evening of 30 January the Veillà begins, with improvised music, folklore and warm drinks. Many stalls and cellars stay open late. A detailed day-by-day programme with side events is usually published shortly before the fair.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Aosta

  • Getting there: The railway station and bus terminal are a short walk from the historic centre. By car, free or signed parking is usually available on the edge of town; follow pedestrian signs into the centre. Trains run via routes from Turin (via Ivrea) and Milan (via Chivasso).
  • Weather and clothing: Late January in Aosta is winter conditions—cold, with possible snow or ice. Wear warm layers, sturdy waterproof shoes and gloves; most stalls are outdoors.
  • Where to stay: Hotels and apartments in Aosta and nearby villages fill quickly for this weekend. Book early; options in surrounding valley towns can help if the city is full.
  • On site: The route follows pedestrian streets inside and along the Roman walls. Information points and signage link the main fair, the Atelier and the food pavilion.
  • Veillà and practical notes: For the night of 30–31 January, bring warm clothing and allow extra time. Cash can be useful at smaller stalls; expect large crowds and keep valuables secure.
