Welcome to Halloween Frankenstein at Königstein Castle 2026
Under the motto "The nightmare returns", the imposing ruins of Königstein Castle in the Taunus region transform once again into Germany's most legendary horror show from 16 October to 1 November 2026. After more than four decades at Burg Frankenstein in the Odenwald, the cult scare festival returns for its third consecutive year at Königstein Castle, drawing horror fans from around the world.

Program
The event runs across three weekends between 16 October and 1 November 2026, with Friday and Saturday evenings reserved for the full horror experience, recommended for ages 16 and up. On these nights, visitors explore elaborately designed scare zones with lighting and sound effects throughout the castle grounds. Sundays turn the castle into a family day: from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, kid-friendly shows take place on the festival meadow, offering lighthearted spooky fun instead of real horror, suitable for children aged 6 and up. Parents pay the same admission price as children on this day.
Tickets
Standard tickets start at €37 per person, while Children's Sunday ("Screamtime") tickets are available from just €25 per person (advance online booking recommended). All ticket prices include the RMV public transport ticket, free Park&Ride parking, and the shuttle bus to and from the castle. Food and drinks are not included but are available at numerous stands on the festival meadow. For extra comfort, a VIP ticket is available, including priority entry, a welcome drink, reserved seating in the VIP tent, and a four-course buffet until two hours before the event ends.
Getting There & Tips
- Parking directly at the castle is not available during the event; access is via designated Park&Ride lots with shuttle buses running roughly every 10 minutes.
- Public transportation is strongly recommended; the RB12 regional train and several bus lines connect to Königstein.
- Destination stops are "Königstein (Taunus) Stadtmitte" and "Königstein (Taunus) Bahnhof."
- Dress warmly and for outdoor conditions, as this is an open-air event held within the castle ruins.
- Book tickets early online, as popular weekend dates regularly sell out.
