Isle of MTV Malta – Europe's Biggest Free Open-Air Concert
Isle of MTV Malta is Europe's largest free music festival, held annually every July since 2007 at Il-Fosos Square (The Granaries) in Floriana, just outside the walls of Valletta. Each year between 30,000 and 50,000 visitors celebrate under the open sky alongside world-class headliners. The concert is later broadcast across MTV's international television network, putting Malta in the global spotlight for one unforgettable night.

Program
The festival gets underway in the early evening at the Granaries in Floriana. Local supporting acts open the show before the international headliner takes the stage. After the main concert, the official Isle of MTV After Party continues the night at clubs such as Gianpula Village. Malta Music Week follows over several days, featuring boat parties, beach events and club nights across the island at venues including Café del Mar and Toy Room Beach Club. Malta Music Week events are separate, ticketed events for those aged 17 and over.
Tickets
The main concert is entirely free of charge. However, advance registration through the official website isleofmtv.com is mandatory; free tickets are in extremely high demand and typically sell out within minutes of release. Additional VIP Gold and Platinum packages are available, including access to premium areas and Malta Music Week events. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
Getting There
The Granaries in Floriana are approximately 500 metres from Valletta's City Gate. Special public transport bus services run directly to and from the venue from numerous locations across Malta on concert day. The main Valletta bus terminus is within easy walking distance. Taxis are an alternative but must be booked well in advance as availability is extremely limited on concert day.
Visitor Tips
- Register for free tickets as soon as registration opens; tickets disappear within minutes.
- Arrive early as the Granaries fill up very quickly before showtime.
- Use public transport; do not bring glass containers or large bags onto the site.
- Bring any essential medication and stay hydrated throughout the evening.
- Book accommodation in Malta several months in advance as hotels fill up rapidly around the event date.
- Stay with your group at all times, especially outside the concert perimeter.
- The Malta Red Cross is present on site for any medical assistance.
