Welcome to Luther's Wedding 2027 in Wittenberg
From 11 to 13 June 2027, Lutherstadt Wittenberg once again turns into a living journey back to the 16th century. The historic city festival Luther's Wedding commemorates the marriage of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora in 1525. In eleven themed experience zones, around 30 historical associations, jesters and craftspeople recreate life in Luther's time; the entire old town, including the Castle Church, Town Church and Luther House, becomes a stage.

Program
The festival opens on Friday at 5:00 PM, when performers dressed as Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora appear on the market square to kick off the celebrations. On Saturday, the program starts in the morning, and at 2:00 PM the grand historic parade with several thousand participants sets off from the Luther House through the old town. The weekend also features medieval rock, drummers, fanfare bands, blues and folk music, and theatre performances on large and small stages. Sunday is dedicated to families: the wedding cake cutting ceremony takes place in the morning, followed by the historic children's parade with hundreds of children from Wittenberg clubs, kindergartens and schools.
Tickets
Exact ticket prices for 2027 have not yet been published; in 2026 the three day adult ticket cost between 20 and 25 euros, depending on the point of sale. Children and teenagers up to 14 receive free admission, while a reduced price applies for students aged 15 to 17 with a valid student ID. Tickets are exchanged on site for festival wristbands, which grant access to all experience zones. Current prices and advance sales will be published on the official website.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive early, as the old town gets very crowded during the festival days.
- Historic costume is welcome but not required; visitors in regular clothing are equally welcome.
- Travelling by train is recommended, as parking in the old town is limited.
- Find a good spot along the parade route early on Saturday.
- Sunday is especially suited for families with children.
