Program

The four fireworks shows take place on Saturdays 5, 12, 19 and 26 June 2027, each starting at 10:30 PM at the pier near the Pontinha. Participating countries each present their own show choreographed to music; on the closing night, the winners are announced: the jury awarded Atlantic Trophy and the public voted Madeira Belongs to All trophy. Beyond the competition, the festival runs a month long cultural program with concerts, multimedia shows and art events across Funchal.

Tickets

Admission to watch the fireworks along the waterfront, the marina and the viewpoints is completely free. For those who want to experience the spectacle up close, several boat tours run on the festival Saturdays; these are paid and tend to sell out, so early booking is recommended.

Visitor Tips

  • Arrive at least an hour early, as the waterfront gets very crowded on fireworks nights.
  • Good free viewpoints include Avenida do Mar, Santa Catarina Park and Pico dos Barcelos.
  • Expect heavy crowds for buses and taxis after the show; walking back is an option for those staying nearby.
  • Book boat tours in advance, as the most popular dates fill up quickly.
  • Bring a light jacket, as evenings by the sea can turn cool.
