Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

On the eve, June 22, the day opens at 16:00 with the changing of the guard in front of the palace. From around 20:00 the torchlight procession gathers at Place du Théâtre before making its way via Côte d'Eich to Place Guillaume II. At 23:00 the fireworks display above the Adolphe Bridge lights up the sky for about seventeen minutes, set to specially composed music. Afterward, the streets of the old town turn into a large open air party with concerts running into the early hours. On National Day itself, June 23, the official ceremony begins at 10:00 at the Philharmonie, followed by a gun salute and military parade around 12:00 on Avenue de la Liberté. In the afternoon the Te Deum takes place at the cathedral, while the Kinnekswiss hosts the Spillfest for families throughout the day.

Tickets and Admission for Luxembourg National Day

Luxembourg National Day is an entirely public and free event. No tickets are required for the changing of the guard, the torchlight procession, the fireworks, the concerts at Place d'Armes, the festival at Champ du Glacis or the Spillfest on the Kinnekswiss, every part of the program is open to everyone at no cost.

Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Luxembourg

  • Since the city center is closed to traffic on both days, arriving by bus or train is strongly recommended
  • Good vantage points for the fireworks include the area around Constitution Square, Boulevard Roosevelt, the Corniche and the Saint Esprit plateau
  • Evenings in late June can turn cool in Luxembourg, so a light jacket is a good idea
  • Accommodation in Luxembourg City should be booked early given the large crowds
  • For a close view of the torchlight procession, arrive early along Côte d'Eich or at Place Guillaume II
